8th Street Coffee House

8th Street Coffee House

by Bud Lemire on Jan 13, 2005

The 8th Street Coffee House is where I want to go

To sit down, relax, and meet with people that I know

There's plenty of drinks to pick from, so hurry on down there

In the comfort of good company, without a worry or a care

You'll meet people from all over town, people near and far

Making friends is easy, you might even meet a star

Conversations are made, you'll never be alone

Sometimes people meet, to share each of their poems

We're located in Escanaba, the corner of eighth and Ludington street

You get there anywhere, whether on wheels or on feet

We have people playing and singing, come and listen here

Clap your hands in happiness, and join the Yooper cheer

The sun is always shining here, even on a cloudy day

You'll be happy that you stopped, we'd be happy if you'd stay

This is for a place where many people meet here in town.

Note: The 8th Street Coffee House has since moved and become the Infinity Coffee House

and then not long after, it closed.

10-4 Good Buddy

10-4 Good Buddy

by Bud Lemire on March 22, 2012

I remember back when 10-4 was a popular sign

The C.B. craze was here, and I got mine

To be talking to people like Big Daddy, Blonde Bomber, and Neil To Wheel

Back in the 70's, we chatted for so many hours, it seemed unreal

I remember the words and what everyone said

Moonbeam, Irish Clover, and Fearless Fred

So many people were ones I talked to

If you had a C.B., then it was you

The Communicator, Blue Laker, Skipper, and Running Bear

We'd have a roll call to see who all was there

Turn down your power mic, they would say to me

I'd reply “I don't have one,” and then let it be

Those popular brothers who are Djs today

Were the Pink Panther and Red Baron by the way

Wild Irish, Screwy Louie, and the Sandpiper

Rinkydink, Super Snoop, Silver Springs, and the Cougar

Blue Swede, Eskymo, and the Space Freak

There's so many handles every day of the week

So many locals would Ratchet Jaw with me

Screamon Demon, Black Jack, and Willie Coyote

Big Moose, Henny Penny, and Mr.Magoo

Leprechaun, Double Nickel, and Wild Cat too

Star Trek, Engineer, Matchbox, and the Tookey Bird

Various handles to be called, and these are ones I heard

I'm taken back to those wonderful days

When I chatted with many during the C.B. craze

10-4 Good Buddy, you got a copy on the Shocker,

I was there during that C.B. Craze and I enjoyed all the people I talked to back then.

24 Hours A Day

24 Hours A Day

by Bud Lemire on Aug 23, 2013

Twenty four hours a day

Nothing gets in the way

Of a love so deep so true

When the energy is felt by you

Beyond that which is seen

Red, blue, yellow, and green

Beauty felt to the soul

Of everything that I know

Guided by an Angel's light

Embracing me all through the night

Deeper than anyone's ever known

Forever now I'll never be alone

Her love for me holds on tight

Our spirits are dancing in flight

As our love is One for all time

My love in her, hers in mine

Together we go hand in hand

As One we'll make a stand

Our Love will see us through

Giving strength to all that we do

Vicki, thank you so very much for all your love

A Beatle's Tears

A Beatle's Tears

By Bud Lemire on February 1st, 2003

There was a gathering, to listen to a song

A variety of people, but I really didn't belong

One was Paul McCartney, ex-Beatle extraordinaire

And I was quite pleased, I had some music I could share

So I pulled out a tape, I wanted Paul to hear

I'm not sure how I had it, all was so unclear

But there was a new Lennon song, how could this be

And how did this song, ever get to me

How could I tell them, years ago he had died

I looked around for answers, and saw that Paul had cried

He said he never heard that, and he liked it very much

Still he wondered about me, and how I got in touch

He wondered why, he never heard it before

I wish I could answer, but I knew nothing more

I enjoyed the Beatles, through all their years

And I somehow had it, flowing into my ears

Could it be, that John Lennon's spirit, gave it to me

So I could pass it on to Paul, so they could Let It Be

I'm not sure how I got it, but I somehow knew

Please, please Help me understand, or Love Me Do

It was a dream. When I woke up to turn on the radio,

John Lennon's IMAGINE started playing. Amazing....yeah, yeah yeah.

A Beautiful Flower

A Beautiful Flower

by Bud Lemire on Oct 11, 2007

A beautiful flower, who has withstood the storm
A loving and caring soul, who's love is so warm
Tattered and uprooted, you still remain strong
Your endurance in bad weather, has been too long

While many pick at your petals, your roots have grown
Ignored by the many, that you have known
The sun came to warm you, the rain gave you a drink
Mother Nature gave you love, and the freedom to think

Many didn't think this flower would survive
But you should see her today, she is alive
Sparkling with beauty, and stronger than ever
She doesn't believe in words such as "never"

She says it's not easy being a flower
But God has given her, a wonderful power
The beauty within, is not the beauty you see
When you look at a flower, it's beauty naturally

Look it over real close, see what's really there
So many ignore the beauty, or really don't care
For you see this flower, had to put up a fight
And her beauty today, gives off an Angelic light

A Better Place

A Better Place

© 1992 by Bud Lemire

As time passes by and people pass on

We must let go of the worries that we dwell upon

We must remember them as they once were

And move on as they'd want us to endure

Even though thoughts of them bring only pain

Think of all from them that we did gain

Love they shared within their life span

The comfort they gave when we needed a hand

Grieve not for them, it is you who are sad

They've moved on to a better place, which isn't bad

And their spirit lives on within us all

Memories to hold us up should we fall

Sending them a prayer, of pain you must set free

Hoping your message gets to where they will be

I will go on with my life as I must do

Knowing the bond we hold is ever so true

Your spiritual guidance with me every day

Into tomorrow, the future's going to be okay

A Birthday Wish

A Birthday Wish

by Bud Lemire on Nov 15, 2012

Happy Birthday Vicki, sweet child of love

What's on your mind, what are you thinking of

Another year older, yet much better too

My sweet Angel, I'm so in love with you

All of your wishes and dreams will come true

All can be yours and they will happen to you

Strawberries on top of a very sweet cake

Energy flowing as you come awake

A child of love in a spiritual place

An Angelic look with a smile on your face

So much to share and so much to learn

The flames on the candles, watch how they burn

A knife slices the cake into parts

As two becomes one are felt in their hearts

Two souls that meet and become one

Bound by a love that will never be undone

Two passionate souls with their love so strong

Share a moment in time in a place they belong

Senses spinning around with love's desire

A Birthday wish comes true, out goes the fire

Happy Birthday Vicki!

For you my Angel,

because your wings feel so good

when they are wrapped around me

A Brightly Shining Star

A Brightly Shining Star

by Bud Lemire on May 7, 2005

Your voice sends me up a mountain so high

The energy added to it makes me want to fly

It's like a warm and strong embrace

Leaving me floating in outer space

Such a wonderful soul I've found in you

With everything you say and all that you do

I feel the love you send my way

It touches my spirit every day

Your knowledge of things that others lack

Your openness to all and that's a fact

The love you send me, stays for a long while

When I feel it, I can not hold back a smile

Everything I do, everywhere I go, I always find

My soul is uplifted, with you on my mind

You give so freely of your time

To help others get back in line

On your journey, you've learned your lessons well

You've made it to Heaven, after going through Hell

This experience helped to make you who you are

A spiritual teacher, and a Brightly Shining Star

A Broken Heart

A Broken Heart

by Bud Lemire on March 30, 2004

You asked if I knew, how it felt to have a broken heart

When love has left, without even a spark

Well I should, because it's happened to me

I should be happy, now that I can be free

But I was so entangled, deep in her love

I didn't know, what she was thinking of

I got caught up in a wonderful life

Until she told me, she wouldn't stay my wife

My love alone, couldn't maintain us both

So I lost the woman, that I loved the most

She wanted something, I couldn't give

I feel the pain, everyday that I live

So now you know, I feel it too

It's happened to me, and happened to you

That's how I know, about a broken heart

It left me so empty, without even a spark

Of course time does move on, and there was a spark

of hope that kept getting stronger and I found Love again

A Bubble Of Time

A Bubble Of Time

by Bud Lemire on April 13, 2013

Suspended in a bubble of time

Where your soul merges with mine

I feel you deep as I can go

Your embrace and squeezes let me know

So strong is this love we share

There's nothing that can compare

Two souls sharing a love divine

As energy flows down my spine

Through my body energies flow

Your love and mine an ever glow

Connected as only one can be

Beyond the place where we can see

In one thought we are together

Taking in this spiritual pleasure

In spirit, thoughts are action

It is complete satisfaction

A love like ours is deep and true

Passionate and sensual too

Where our souls are of divine

Suspended in a bubble of time

This is for you Vicki, I love sharing the bubble with you

A Buddy In Heaven

A Buddy In Heaven
By Bud Lemire on Aug 24, 2012

He's young again, as he dances around

Where Angels are always found

In the garden of love was his embrace

With your love he's found his place

He barks and runs and can play

He's really not that far away

His love is deep within your heart

And his journey there won't keep you apart

"Mommy, I'm fine and my leg's all better"

"And I found a friend, she's an Irish Setter"

"She likes to run in the field with me"

"And you should see all the things we see"

"I send you love and thanks for all the great care"

"I'll be around to visit, so please be aware"

"Thank you Mommy, for all you've done"

"My life there is over, but this one has begun"

"You have some things that you must do"

Your friends and guides will help you through"

"I'll stop here, because it's time to run"

"When you think of me, think of the sun"

A Caring Man

A Caring Man
By Bud Lemire on Dec 12, 2009

He was a man I recognized from before
When he use to work at the Sav-Mor
A quiet man, but caring in his ways
I came to know him better in recent days

He’s had his share of losses, in the time that he’s spent here
His own battle with his health would cause some to shed a tear
It seems our human bodies, break down so easily
Things we never thought it could ever be

Thank God for the strong spirit, that each of us own
That keeps us going strongly, on our long journey home
Many of us never realize, the spirit that’s inside
Until our human life is done, and we’ve gone and died

He works on the jigsaw puzzle, it calms his mind
Brings him to tranquility, leaving stressful thoughts behind
He’ll take in conversations with those who are around
And he helps those in need, wherever they are found

He appreciates the little things
And takes whatever life brings
He carries on the best that he can
This friend of mine is A Caring Man

This is for you Brian Bowden! For all you’ve endured, and for all that you give to others with your gentle caring ways of understanding. May the bigger picture of your life come together, when the final piece is added. Thank you for sharing your presence with us.

A Changing Mood

A Changing Mood

by Bud Lemire on April 9, 2013

Some days there is a changing mood

When everything you do feels rude

It is when little things irritate you

No matter what you seem to do

We all seem to have those days

When we look back it's like a haze

We wonder why it happened that way

Words and reactions come out that day

They say it's normal if it should be

Understanding it is the key

Let it pass and truly know

Days like that will come and go

Accept that as one of those

A weed found among the rose

Not all days can be just right

There comes some dim among the light

Realize that on each day

Your body changes in some way

Although some day you may seem rude

Put it down to a changing mood

Some days we all have changing moods

For me, they don't come very often

Accept them and know them as your “off” days.

A Christmas Card

A Christmas Card

by Bud Lemire on Dec 13, 2011

Since he passed away, life hasn't been the same

His heart attack came on suddenly, but nobody was to blame

Sometimes a smile upon her face, was so very hard

Little did she know, the magic of A Christmas Card

One day she wandered just outside her door

A Christmas Card was in her box that wasn't there before

Who could have given me this?” she asked out loud

Some sunshine seem to make its way through her dark cloud

She didn't know the person, who this card came from

Just to bring a smile to your face, and then some”

A stranger she didn't know, made her wonder awhile

Following her thoughts, there came a beautiful smile

It's been so long since she smiled, she cried happy tears

Never has this happened, in all of her years

She felt something within her heart this day

Folding her hands together, she began to pray

Thank you dear God for this moment in time”

And for waking up this old heart of mine”

She held the card to her breast

Feeling as though she'd been blessed

Every day after that, a new card would appear

People all around, filled her with Christmas Cheer

She was so happy, feeling this way

A kind act from a stranger, happened every day

Until Christmas came a knock came on her door

Opening it up, there was a big box upon the hallway floor

It had her name right there on the top

She pulled it inside, just so it wouldn't drop

Opening it up, she saw the most beautiful dress

She looked around, then came more tears of happiness

She noticed there was a little card taped upon the seal

It's an honor to invite you to our Christmas meal”

'We came together and put together the very best”

By the way, you might want to wear that dress”

On this day, at the age of eighty nine

Kindness from strangers was a wonderful sign

Holding her hand to her heart she smiled and said

Merry Christmas, I'm so glad I got out of bed”

A kind act from a stranger, no matter how small, can bring a smile and joy to anyone's world. Remember, “no act or deed goes unnoticed by those in the spirit world.” They watch us and guide us every day.

A Christmas Heart

A Christmas Heart

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 19, 2014

At Christmas time, everyone played their part

Under the tree was the little girl with the wonderful heart

She held it up real high for all to see

And placed it in the middle of the tree

She wasn't little, but she played the part

Because her life went fast, but she kept a good heart

Life lead her to become an adult way too fast

Her childhood just didn't seem to last

She raised a family and watched them grow

Until it was their time to go

Her life lead her down the road

Sometimes it was a heavy load

Then one year there came a light

That surrounded her day and night

The greatest love that would ever be

That light she felt, was me

I was her light, and she was mine

The greatest love, love of the divine

The little girl that was lost long ago

Has been released with all the love I know

Beyond the body, there is the soul

Every moment this love will grow

Our love will never be apart

Our souls rejoice with a Christmas Heart

For this beautiful woman who is now a

little child at heart. I let her inner child

out, and she came out to play. The little

boy inside of me is so very happy. She

has such a wonderful heart and soul.

At Christmas time, she is the greatest

gift ever. Thank you Vicki.

A Christmas Love Story

A Christmas Love Story

by Bud Lemire on Dec 24, 2012

At Christmas time what I'm thinking of

The gift wrapped up in a thing called love

Looking over at the Christmas Tree

An Angel is looking down at me

She has the most beautiful smile

I'm taken in by her Angelic style

From the top of the tree

Her love surrounded me

Wings spread so wide

She took me inside

She held me tight

I saw her light

It was so bright

Then we took flight

She took me to a time of a future event

I'm walking on the Island with someone Heaven sent

The most beautiful woman with a wonderful soul

The love she shares with me makes me feel whole

We made love by the fireplace

Followed by a warm embrace

Christmas bells were ringing

The Angels were all singing

A song to help us through

We each responded with “I Do”

The love was oh so sweet

Our lives became more complete

This Angel was the woman,

and this woman is Vicki.

With her by side,

life got even better

A Conversation

A Conversation

by Bud Lemire on May 28, 2003

I had a conversation, with someone you all know

He told me in my life, to learn and to grow

To listen to your inner soul, to enjoy and to explore

And let your spirit come alive, like it was before

I had a conversation, with someone who knew me well

She made a lot of sense, with all she had to tell

It doesn't matter what you say, or what you do

As long as you do your best, to always be you

I had a conversation, with a furry friend of mine

Who wagged his tail, and raised his paw as a sign

It doesn't matter what you look like, as long as you care

And with all the love you have, to always share

I had a conversation, with a tree

I know it sure seemed odd to me

But I learned to spread my limbs and grow

And leave a good impression, wherever I go

I had a conversation, with a stream

Who said to flow with my dream

And to never stop running, until it's here

Banish all frustrations, so all understanding is clear

All of these conversations, were with God

Oh sure, you may find this to be odd

But he's everything, and everyone, and everywhere

And he loves everyone, and really does care

He said to remember who you were, and remember who you are

And if you're aware of your spirit, your life will take you far

A Cup And A Smoke

A Cup And A Smoke
By Bud Lemire on May 16, 2009

I remember long ago in my memory
Seeing Mom and Dad at the table with a cup of coffee
A cigarette in one hand, and a cup of coffee in the other
It was enjoyed so much by my Father and my Mother

It’s been a tradition that many still do
A morning ritual that helps you get through
A cup and a smoke, early in the day
A smile and a feeling, to send you on your way

I grew up on coffee, drank it as a kid
Dunking toast in it, was what I always did
Some cream and sugar to make it sweet
Two more slices in the toaster and my breakfast was complete

I never smoked, but I know the feeling that’s there
When the sensation from a puff, touches you everywhere
I get that feeling from many things that I do
But I do understand what the smoke does for you

I raise my cup to my smoking friends here
This coffee tastes good, I wonder if I could have a beer?”
Maybe I’ll settle for a toast to dunk in my cup”
Hold that elevator for me, I’m going up”

I wrote this poem for all my friends who come down early in the morning to have cup of coffee with their smoke. In all kinds of weather, they come down. They gather around and meet others who do the same. In many ways it’s better than being alone in your apartment. Making new friends, and sharing your thoughts and latest news.
Like many places, the health of the many outweigh the choices of the few. I know it becomes an inconvenience, but think of it as prolonging other lives of the ones that don’t smoke. It’s your choice to smoke, so this is in honor of all my smoking’ friends. Drink a cup of coffee and have an enjoyable smoke.

A Cup Of Tea

A Cup Of Tea

by Bud Lemire on May 30, 2004

For relaxation at bedtime, I have a cup of chamomile

It helps me to rest, so my body can heal

During the day, it’s green tea for me

With ginseng also in it, it makes my body happy

Boiled from a teapot, or microwaved just right

Nothing tastes as good, as tea all day and night

With a touch of sugar, the taste makes it complete

Not too strong to your taste buds, perfectly sweet

Some like to add honey, or milk to their tea

It’s okay occasionally, but sugar is enough for me

Same goes for lemon, a touch is very nice

Or in the summertime, it’s best to add some ice

Then there is the sun tea, you set it out to steep

A big container of teabags, made for you to keep

There’s so many good things, about drinking tea

The reason that I drink it is, it tastes good to me

Come join me for a cup of tea

Sit down and drink right next to me

I won’t bite, I promise you

We’ll have a chat and a good time too

A Dandelion

A Dandelion

by Bud Lemire on May 26, 2004

I picked a dandelion, and blew it to the wind

I asked the spirits, where do I begin

Sitting down in a chair, I looked out the window

I knew life could be hard, or it could be simple

I’ve been down each road, and I know the way

And I knew in the end, everything would be okay

For the spirits are guiding me, in all that I do

They’re by my side, and they’ll help me through

Just like the dandelion’s petals, that are scattered in the air

The journey of our soul, takes us everywhere

It may be our lesson, to learn from all we find

Whether it be of the body, or of the soul and mind

The path that we travel on, can be harder for some

Twists and turns along the way, and back to where we’re from

Life isn’t always seeing, or believing what we see

It’s knowing what we feel, of all that it can be

A Day Of Endless Pleasure

A Day Of Endless Pleasure

by Bud Lemire on Nov 9, 2006

Was a day of endless pleasure

Beyond the words that most would treasure

Feelings strong and so intense

Playing upon every sense

Sensual waves in a certain spot

Heat waves flow and make me hot

Energy throughout the body, feelings strong

Our love together, is where we belong

So far away, yet very close

Sensual feelings of a ghost

Two spirits found a love so true

More powerful than they knew

Feelings so strong, as if together

Astral energies light as a feather

Floating together in the spiritual place

Time moves slower in that special place

It’s no surprise that our love is special and unique

Every minute of every hour, every day of the week

It’s the kind of love we can always treasure

As you and I meet in A Day Of Endless Pleasure

A Deadly Curse

A Deadly Curse

by Bud Lemire on May 26, 2005

There came a noise in the middle of the night

It seemed some neighbors here had a fight

He was in a drunken rage, while she watched in fright

He stormed out, while she found her way to my light

He threw the phone, and it did break

My light was on, so I must be awake

It happened while they were in bed

She said it left a lump upon her head

She was so scared, as I watched her tears

To see him like that, unleashed her fears

I've never seen him quite like this

Our nights usually ended in happiness

She was shaking from what transpired

I was awake, but gradually getting tired

She used my phone to call up a friend

So soon her heart could be on the mend

The police arrived with questions they sought

I hoped that he would soon be caught

But I wished inside, that she would know

From this experience, she would grow

I know about drinking, things only get worse

For alcohol in people, is a deadly curse

I hope that you will take my advice

To search for someone who will treat you nice

A Dream Come True

A Dream Come True

What can I say that hasn't already been said

On the love that we share, in and out of bed

The love that we share every day

When our spirits touch in every way

Your love in spirit holds me so very tight

Your love in physical reveals your beautiful light

Your caring ways, all the love that you show

You are someone I am honored to love and to know

You're the other part of me, I've been searching for

Now that I know you, I need your love so much more

I want to sit with you and read a good book

Hold hands and watch TV, for a good look

There's so much that I want us to do

Everything will be so much better with you

Our love over the years has grown to be very strong

By my side forever more is where you truly belong

Your light shines so bright upon my soul

You fill me up deeply and make me whole

Take my hand and I shall never let go

As the love we share continues to grow

Together we shall make an amazing team, me and you

Because my dear Vicki, our life together is a dream come true

You are the woman I have dreamed about. The woman I

knew was out there, but I didn't know where. You read my

poems and loved them. You got to know me and loved me.

You are the woman that great poems are written about. You

are the woman I shall love for eternity. You are my Twin Flame.

A Failure

A Failure

©2004 by Bud Lemire

I feel a part of me has died

I failed attempts I should have tried

I failed those I loved the most

Unsteady my soul, I am a ghost

Love brought me to the west

I had love that was the best

I failed fully all of life's test

And made of my life, such a mess

I lost the love because of fear

Because of that I'm leaving here

I don't know just where I belong

Only that I must have done wrong

My heart is aching so very much

It hurts so badly, to the touch

I can hardly think of what to do

Of simple things, that I once knew

Oh comfort me and make me whole

The missing pieces of my soul

A failure to those who see

Look inside and see the real me

A Feather Blowing

A Feather Blowing

by Bud Lemire on March 30, 2005

You're just a feather blowing in the wind

Wondering just when your life will begin

All those times that you have cried

Wipe away those tears, you've always tried

Let the spirits guide your soul

As time passes, you will know

Exactly what you will need

And where your path will lead

You'll meet many along the way

Some will leave, some will stay

They will change the way that you feel

And they will touch, and help you to heal

Each path that will be taken

Should help your spirit awaken

For it's best that you will grow

On your journey of the soul

Keep an open mind to all

Don't stay inside of any wall

And you'll find when you explore

You will learn to be much more
