Bob

Photobucket
by Bud Lemire on Sept 18, 2011

Oh Bob, I think we might as well
Pick a time and place for your picture with Michelle
How about sunset at the park
With vivid colors before it gets dark

I know you love to have a drink
As for me I'd rather think
Slow down, you have so much energy
Instead of booze, try a glass of tea

You're a pleasant man when you want to be
But it's that drinking that will be the death of thee
Those were thoughts within my mind
Now you've gone and left this world behind

I wanted to warn you, but thought you knew better
So I'm writing this poem as I'd write a letter
You can't return, so you need to move along
Looking back, maybe you know what went wrong

They say you died from a heart attack
The day you awakened to a world of black
But the light was with you, and you weren't alone
You were met by family and friends you had known
May your journey be a good one my friend
We'll meet again, because this isn't the end

Dedicated to Bob Jennings who passed away September 13, 2011 at the age of 60. He lived here for a short time at the Harbor Tower until his passing. He had a good heart and soul, but a habit of drinking. Whether this played a part in his passing, or if it was stress, I don't really know. He's gone now, and I was glad to have known him as a friend while he was here.
