Eyeball Erasers

Eyeball Erasers

by Bud Lemire on Feb 24, 2004

There's many times, I wake from my dreams

And can't remember them, it seems

Maybe there's erasers on my eyeballs

Deleting memories, when eyelids rise and fall

Then there are times when I blink

Forgetting what next to say, I think

I lose things, I forget where they are

These eyeball erasers, have gone a bit too far

If I knew exactly, where they were

I could remove them, and I'd be sure

But they could be anywhere, in my eye

And if I mess around, they could make me cry

I'd like to take the eyeballs from their socket

And carry them inside my pants pocket

But then I'd find it too difficult to see

And it would stop me from writing poetry

I guess these eyeball erasers I will keep

And try my best to remember in my sleep

When the dreams, they come and go

How the heck am I to know
