A Better Understanding

I don't understand everything that you do

Only that you are simply being you

What is really wrong, or what is really right

How strong are the forces, that guide you in the light

I don't understand, everything that I do

I go with a feeling that seems to come through

Sometimes we must learn what is right and what is wrong

And find and fix our weaknesses, so that we'll be strong

I don't understand tragedies, and the reasons why

Why they're always happening, and why they make us cry

Is it to show appreciation, for all that is here each day

For in our world of light, there must also be some gray

I don't understand why people hurt us, with the words they say

Is it so we can overcome the pain, in a certain way

To show that we have feelings, deep within our heart

For it's not really the ending, but a brand new start

Understanding our life, and the wherefore and the why

Helps us to carry on our lives, and makes us want to try

So when you are motionless and still, and left alone and standing

Maybe you should open up your mind, for A Better Understanding

Sometimes all we need is to better understand something, to truly

know why things are as they are. Once we do, we can move on.
