Alice My
Friend
by Bud Lemire on May 7,
2006
Through my
peep hole, in the hallway light
You and
Ruthie, were saying goodnight
I'd open my
door a crack to say hello
The elevator
arrived, it was Ruthie's time to go
You came to
my door, to talk with me awhile
I knew you
were weak, but you still held a smile
You said you
had some decisions to make
And the
result was endless pain, which was so hard to take
Still your
life went on, you did your best
While life
kept on giving you a challenging test
You knew what
was coming, and what was there
And when the
time comes, you'll be aware
"I've
lived a good life, I'm happy to say"
"And
when it's my time, I'll be on my way"
The Angels
will be there, when your life is through
You'll
rejoice without pain, and begin life anew
But those
left behind, will remember you well
A dear sweet
lady, who fought through life's hell
I know one
thing, when your time comes to an end
Heaven will
gain an Angel, it'll be Alice My Friend
Alice is 89 years old
and has cancer.
She now lives in the Spirit World
