Flight To
Be Here
© 2002 by Bud Lemire
I went to
sleep, in the dark of the morning light
While my
love, she took a “To Be Here” flight
Through
screaming children and a storm, because the sky wasn't clear
Because she
knew, that her love belonged with me here
She listened
to my voice on tape, on her way
And loved all
the words, that I had to say
She called me
from her first stop, with a good morning hello
I was so
happy to hear her voice, because I loved her so
I occupied
myself, until that time would arrive
My sister
showed up early, she was going to drive
We went to a
Floral Shop, to get five roses there
Then to the
airport, to see if she was down from air
We waited
until it was closer, to the time her plane would land
As we walked
inside, before us she did stand
She gave me a
strong hug, and she would not let me go
I was tightly
pressed to her, from my head to toe
Then we were
driven back, to where we both would stay
And soon we
held each other, upon the bed on this day
Later we took
a walk, to where the city band played at the park
Sailing boats
and sunset skies, brought us home before dark
This is about when
Wanda came to meet me for the first time.
For me it was something
new, something exciting.
