I wonder, wonder, who took the poem
From the bulletin board at this place called home
Did you take them down so you could see?
All you had to do was come and ask me
I put them up here for all to read
Don’t take them for that is greed
Leave them here so all can look
They can not read the poems you took
Every time I’d put a new one here
I’d walk by later and they’d disappear
Sooner or later we’ll find out who
And it won’t look very good for you
For you must fully understand this
The poems shouldn’t be ones others miss
They’re posted so that I can share
The words I write with utmost care
A friend told me they were scattered on a bench
“Savior faire” is needed, pardon my French
Remember to leave them there for all
To take them makes you look pretty small
Permission is needed and you should ask to take
These poems I write, for goodness sake!
Whoever is taking these poems, is one who is reading this right now. No not you, who just reads it and leaves it here. It’s YOU who takes it down and brings it to your apartment and never considers others wanting to read it. You can get copies made in the office, or you can come to me and ask permission to get copies and return the poem after you do. I ask that you leave the new ones up for a week before getting copies. This way everyone gets a chance to read it. Please use “Common Sense” when it comes to my poetry. I love sharing them, and would hate to have to stop posting them because of someone’s ignorance. I have friends who are watching, and they will get back to me. Yes, even in the middle of the night.
