At Heaven’s Door

By Bud Lemire on Jan 13, 2010

Ernie, it was your time to go
But it’s never too late to let you know
Just how much we’ll all miss you
Dear friend of mine, and cousin too

You lived here at the Tower, it was your home
Often you and Joyce would stop to read my poem
I don’t know if you knew it was me
That wrote all the poems that you would see

You called me Buddy, sometimes your words were rough
But I threw them back at you, enough was enough
I remember when I first met you, I knew your grandparent’s surname
My Great Great Grandfather’s name was exactly the same

Beauchamp “The Beautiful Field” comes from St.Polycarpe
It’s where the Flat Rock Beauchamps got their start
Ernie’s Grandfather Treffle also came from there
I traced our ancestors with my Savior Faire

Now he’s with those that had come here before
Young and strong again, At Heaven’s Door
I can see his face and his wonderful smile
As his spirit dances down the Heavenly aisle

Ernie my cousin and friend, in the Spirit World with the Angels and the spirits of our ancestors. Thank you so much for blessing us with your presence here on Earth. So glad I had the chance to meet and know you. May the light of life carry you through your continuing journey in Heaven. ~Buddy~
