You Can't Get There From Here

You Can't Get There From Here

by Bud Lemire on Jan 2, 2004

People have told me, "You can't get there from here"

Then how will I get there, oh my, oh gosh, oh dear

You can take the side roads, but still can not get there

I wonder if there is a way, to get there from here

I look at a map, but it doesn't help at all

I wonder if there's someone, that I could call

There must be a way to get there from here

But I am still waiting for the answer to be clear

Maybe like a helicopter or plane, I could take to air

And fly to that place, and it would take me there

Or could I take a horse, and gallop in instead

Maybe wander off the path, going where I'm led

There must be some way, I'll find it soon I know

To get to that place, where I want to go

Maybe I could dig a hole, and it would take me there

Getting down and dirty, I wonder should I dare

There must be a way, I'll find it if I look

Maybe the solution, is found within a book

I can't recall why, I wanted to get there from here

Am I losing my memory, I hope not I do fear

Oh well, I guess I'll stay right where I am at

Pondering the question "Is it this or that?"
