Monrad, Heavenly Bound

Monrad, Heavenly Bound

by Bud Lemire on Dec 20, 2007

The Angels are calling to me, it’s my time I know”
“Could you sing me the songs, before I have to go”
A tear was seen, falling from her eye
As she sang the song, “A sweet bye and bye”

He closed his eyes, and gently held the hand
Of a friend by his bedside, the good hearted man
“He brings my wife to see me, each and every week”
“They brighten up my days, when everything seems bleak”

The songs that she is singing, is so calming to his ears
Her gentle ways, her smile, and I see some tears
I know she’s going to miss me, but it’s my time to go
I’ll try to make it back, if only to say hello

The Angels all gather around his bed, and they join in the song
“It’s time to take your soul, to where all souls belong”
With a final breath, he leaves his body there
As his lovely wife and the good hearted man give a saddened stare

They each know, his soul has left this place
Emotions touched with sadness, are seen upon each face
While the Angels, carry this soul home
Her voice that was singing, takes on a different tone

“Goodbye dear Monrad, thank you for everything”
“May your trip home be happy, safe upon Angels wings”
“I’ll be there to join you, as soon as my journey here is done”
“Until that time is here, could you say hi for me, to everyone”
