The Gun

The Gun

© by Bud Lemire on May 25, 2022

My heart is heavy, my heart is like lead

I try not to think about it, before going to bed

When the day is so busy, in the quiet of the night

There's so much that's wrong, when it should be all right

Crazy people with guns, shooting everyone everywhere

The schools, the stores, giving everyone a scare

What's this world coming to, when someone can carry a gun

And go on a shootout in this world, killing everyone

I think people buying guns, before crossing the line

Need a psyche evaluation, it may stop the crime

Yet then again, it could just happen one day

When sane turns to insane, and the psycho got away

Will we ever truly understand, what makes them do

Like having a shootout, did we miss a clue

I keep thinking, of what the relatives go through

Losing a loved one, the grief that's so true

We've been battling this issue, for many a year

What will it take, before we lose someone we hold dear

We need new laws, for the weapons that kill

To cut out these shootings, maybe pass a new bill

We need to crack down, before it kills everyone

Because it's gotten so crazy, when it comes to The Gun

I truly believe the gun issue needs to be reviewed more,

and new action must be taken to insure the safety of our

citizens. We need to find a way to make it safer for us.

So we don't have to worry about being shot when we go

somewhere. There must be a way, let's find it.

A Memory And A Song

A Memory And A Song

© by Bud Lemire on May 11, 2022

No one lasts forever, before you know it they're gone

All that's left of them, is a memory and a song

Sing that song, sing that song, any time

They will come alive, within your mind

Age seems to creep up on us all

Before we know it, we hear the call

When we're young, we think life is so long

All we have later, is a memory and a song

Time, where did it go?

I only wanted to say hello

They're only whispers in my ear

Time is limited, while we're here

It was a lifetime, where did it go

I learned a lot, and now I know

There was much more to everything

I took it all in, and now I sing

I sing a song about those I knew

Who carried on until their time was through

No one lasts forever, before you know it they're gone

All that's left of them, is a memory and a song

As we get older, we lose so many family members

and friends. But they remain in our memories and

we can smile and dance a happy tune to how much

they touched us in life. When we are young, life goes

slower, but when we get out of school and start life,

it goes very fast. I remember people always telling me

to hold on tight, your life is going to go by fast. They

were right, whew, now I see this old man in the bathroom

mirror. He shares with me the wisdom of the years that he

has learned. Thank you old man!

Old Dog

Old Dog

© by Bud Lemire on May 10, 2022

I may be an old dog, but I still love to run

Even when I was younger, I loved to have fun

I may get out of breath, my master makes me take a break

I love people, and seeing them, even if it's the last breath I take

Down to the park, or around the municipal dock

My master brings me out, for a most wonderful walk

Around the Water Plant, I see someone there

I run to a kindred spirit, a moment we share

Some are afraid of me, but I'm just an old dog

I'm more harmless, than a green leaping frog

My days are numbered, I don't live as long as you

My master gives me the best time, she knows what to do

She doesn't make me roll over any more

She knows my bones are old and sore

She doesn't make me fetch the ball

Yet she knows I would give my all

I try not to bark, so I don't scare people away

I love laying in the sun, on a warm day

I may be an old dog, but I am also your best friend

My soul will be a bright light, when I ascend

Hey people! I love you. My tongue hangs out, but

I give you my all. I get old just like you. Thanks

for understanding that I am mortal just like you.

I don't live forever. Thank you for making my days

better. I appreciate all you do for me. Fresh water,

Oh yeah! Love it. Thanks for being my friend.

Cherish Each Moment

Cherish Each Moment

© by Bud Lemire on May 3, 2022

Where did the time go, how was it spent

It sure did go fast, yes, it just went

Time goes so fast, I never see it go

Yet, I am in it, this I just know

I move ahead, with each second that goes by

It may seem to drag at times, but time does fly

Life takes a hold of you, and takes you along

On a journey of all, the weak and the strong

If you sat in a chair, twenty four hours a day

Time would go by, without a word to say

If you enjoyed yourself, that would be okay

Yet time would still find your hair, eventually gray

I value the time, each moment I'm here

The time it is precious, each moment is dear

I try to make it count, because it means a lot

As I get older, there are some things I forgot

In a journal I write, so I can remember it all

So I can look back, when it's hard to recall

What can you do, when time passes you by

Cherish each moment, until it's your time to die

Time seems to go by fast, and things never last.

So you must cherish them as much as you can.

Enjoy them to the fullest. Live life! Be all you

can be, do all you can do. Be you!
