Age Is Just A Number

Age Is Just A Number

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 20, 2014

It's not about age, or how old you may be

It's about your personality, and what others will see

Age truly is just a number, but no one will know

If you're acting much younger, your age won't show

Don't act your age, act how you feel

For only then will your feelings be real

Just be who you are, you must remain true

In all things you say, and all that you do

Let your spirit out, let the real you free

Don't be just the body that people see

Be full of life, and dance all around

Be the light for others, wherever you're found

Some people act older, than they need to

When the dance is still there, more than they knew

I know there are those, whose bodies were injured at an earlier time

In those cases, it's having the right frame of mind

I think what helps, is enjoying what you do

So you can feel complete, by just being you

Be all you can be, let your personality shine

Age is only a number, when you're part of the divine

We all age. But it's how we act as we age that really

counts. We can act like life has passed us by, or we

can live and take each moment to be the best that we

can be. Dance, sing, enjoy each and every day. If

our bodies have stopped us, then our minds shouldn't.

Life is about living, not dying.

Ghosts Of The Past

Ghosts Of The Past

© by Bud Lemire on Jan 8, 2007

She sat alone, late at night

Each noise she heard, caused a fright

What was it, that scared her so

Sit comfortably, and I'll let you know

One night while she was sleeping

Ghosts from the past came a creeping

They gathered all around her bed

These living spirits we call the dead

What reason could they have, for being here

As the story goes on, all will become clear

You see, a long time ago

There was a woman, dark was her soul

She had swallowed a bitter pill

Her motives became, to Kill, kill, kill

She killed the family she loved the most

Insanity became her host

She held the gun, and aimed it well

Her memory's gone, but I will tell

She smoked some weed, and had a drink

Her mind was gone, she couldn't think

She shot each one, but was unaware

The stink of marijuana, filled the air

A clouded mind, no sanity found

The silence here, was an eerie sound

We move ahead, to a distant time

She saved herself, and she's doing fine

Love came into her life, but it didn't last

That's when it started, Ghosts Of The Past

She doesn't recall that day she held the gun

That tragic day, when she killed everyone

A cockroach runs across the floor

A prison guard appears at the door

The court agreed on the Electric Chair

But all she could do was sit and stare

As the currents passed through

She had a Life Review

Awake and alive, on the Other Side

She knew that she had finally died

Before her, stood the Ghosts Of The Past

Curious about them, she had to ask

Why did you haunt me all these years?”

If she could cry, there would be tears

They all smiled, you could feel their love

You could hear everything, they were thinking of

We weren't out for revenge, or trying to scare you”

We just wanted you to know, the love that we knew”

Despite your actions, so long ago”

Our love united, to fill your dark hole”

They took her hand, and lead her to the light

She had more lessons to learn, but things would be alright

Just my imagination bringing out another poem

A Book To Read

A Book To Read

© by Bud Lemire on Jan 30, 2017

As I pick up a book to read

I'm always amazed at where it will lead

Those authors take us for quite a ride

Between the covers, on the inside

The words, they flow, and off we go

And where we go, only the authors know

They write it with their readers in mind

It's up to us, in what we find

Imagination is a creative force

With lots of magic, of course

A quest for a magic ring

A powerful Wizard, or anything

The images that come to our mind

Are written there, for us to find

They come to life, within our brain

All because of what those words contain

Let's read the next chapter, before we go to bed

Everything that's happening, is going through my head

What will happen next, I need to know

I'll read another chapter, before I go

I can't put this book down

As it gets later, I wear a frown

I fall asleep, with a dreamy look on my face

The book falls from my hands, and I lose my place

And normally when it falls from your hands, it wakes

you up from your nap. It's all because of great authors,

that we find ourselves up late into the early morning

hours reading a great book. Because of their great

imagination, we get to explore a wonderful book.

The First Of May

The First Of May

© by Bud Lemire on May 1, 2013

The Yellow Rumped Warbler, and the Merganser Duck

Talk about my happiness, and a photographer's luck

Two Great Blue Herons, Bob's Cousins I presume

On the first of May, maybe Bob will come soon

Swans in the water, enjoying feeding time

While I zoom in, with this camera of mine

A beautiful day, and the first of May

Warmer temperatures are coming closer, every day

The fish flies are out, but they won't stay too long

And soon I will hear, the Yellow Warbler's song

The Robins are already, singing a beautiful tune

I look forward to this month, and the month of June

A Tern flies by, on the shore nearby

It sure has, such a very loud cry

Two Merganser Ducks, with the bad hair day

Dip in the water, they love to play

This May seems colder, than years in the past

But this cool season, won't always last

The sun is out, on this beautiful day

The wind is blowing, on The First of May

It was indeed a wonderful day when I wrote

this poem. I always love it when the birds

return to the area in Spring, and I see so

many appear, hoping to make their summer

a good one here in the Upper Peninsula of

Michigan. Thank God for birds.

Your Memory

Your Memory

© by Bud Lemire on Sept 10, 2012

Everything that you see

Is stored in your memory

Everyone that you meet, along the way

Are remembered, on another day

The experiences that you go through

And every little thing you do

The hopes and dreams that hold the key

Are places found in your memory

The beauty found everywhere

Everything that you share

Every moment that you love

Is a memory to be thought of

Those who passed for whom you wept

Are stored memories of which you kept

They stay alive in your memory

There they will stay for you to see

The special occasions held for you

An ordinary day that you went through

Can be played out in your mind

Your memories are yours to find

You can go many places within your

mind. To the memories that you will

find. They can take you anywhere

that you have been. To enjoy all over

again.

A Contact List

A Contact List

© by Bud Lemire on Dec 8, 2013

You never know, when it's your time to go

It's best to have a contact list, of people you know

Be prepared, in case it happens to you

It's the proper procedure, of what you should do

In case if emergency, have someone to call

It may be something, like even a fall

A heart attack, or something else too

A family member or close friend, should be there for you

Have a phone number, somewhere nearby

So they can be notified, and they'll know why

They'll come to your side, right away

Put things in order, on any day

Best to be prepared, and have a plan

In case anything happens, you'll know you can

Be in touch, just in case

A friend in need, and a warm embrace

So have your list around

An easy place to be found

I smile with pride, and hold up my fist

I play it safe, with A Contact List

Be sure to have a Contact List on hand.

As you get older, you can easily be hurt.

A fall, a heart attack, etc. Whatever it is,

either you or someone who finds you,

will know who to call. A relative or

friend should be called.

Life Isn't Easy

Life Isn't Easy

© by Bud Lemire on Jan 20, 2017

Life isn't easy, in the beginning and end

You'll need caring parents, and a good loving friend

When we are old enough, to stand on our own

We learn about the world, in a way that's unknown

We start a family, we get a job

By opening the door, by first turning the knob

In school you're prepared, for a life you'll lead

But first hand experience, teaches you what you'll need

Even though you learned something, in school years ago

There's always some things, that you'll never know

As the years go by, changes will take place

You'll need courage and good friends, with all that you face

You can fall into depression, as easy as that

Keep moving around, or you'll get fat

Activities are what you'll need, and you will find

It'll be so wonderful, for your heart and your mind

I find life is easier, when you flow with each day

Become one with nature, in every way

Listen to the birds, as they fly from tree to tree

Take in each view, of each scenery

Life isn't easy, but it doesn't have to be hard too

You make your life, what it will be to you

Some things are out of our control. But the

things that we do and how we react and what

we can do to make our lives better, is in our

control. We can fight everything, we can

scream and moan, or we can flow with

whatever happens. Learning the best way

to deal with it. Remember to take time to

enjoy everything you love, because that

will help you through as well.

Jake

Jake

© by Bud Lemire on Jan 20, 2017

A great man has passed, his name is Jake

Leaving his loved ones, with a grieving ache

With Dottie by his side, he'd visit us in our home

And when we got there, Mangum Road is where we'd roam

An Artist, I'd see his beauty hanging on the wall

He'd answer the phone, whenever I'd call

Last time I saw him, he said it was hard to breathe

And I remember taking his hand, and giving it a squeeze

The Angels took him, to the Heavenly place

Yet, I can still see the smile on his face

He's breathing much better, as he's left his body behind

He's fully recovered in Spirit, and that's a great sign

When looking up, and you see shapes in each cloud

He might be painting a picture, if that is allowed

If you see or hear him, in a dream some night

He's come to embrace you, with his Heavenly Light

It was always good to see you, Jake my friend

I know when my time comes, I'll see you again

Until that time comes, enjoy your time there

I'll remember you always, and I'll send you a prayer

My Brother-in-Law Jake Brady passed away. It was

good to see him and my Sister Dottie when they

stopped by our home to visit. And we would stop

to see them down Mangum Road. Thank you so

much for being a part of my memories and life.

The Journey Of Self Discovery

The Journey Of Self Discovery

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 7, 2012

Lately I've been on a journey of Self Discovery

Looking at everything, and what it means to me

A soul's view from within

Putting a different light on everything

Find new meaning, every day

How it affects me, and which way

Does it make a better me?

Or is it taking away my energy?

Not taking on anyone else's view as my own

Following a feeling that I have always known

Holding true to who I am inside

Sharing who I am openly, with pride

Walking on the path, I am on today

Releasing the words, that only I can say

Learning all about the person I've become

Traveling life's road, to and from

A new way of thinking, changes happening here

Light shining for me, so my sight is clear

Seeing and feeling the soul, is easy for me

Because I'm on The Journey, of Self Discovery

Self Discovery doesn't change where you are, but changes

how you see everything. Not getting caught up in other

people's views. Staying within your own, and not letting

their emotions override your own. No one is better at

being you, than YOU. It's all about being the “True” you

at this very moment, and knowing what you want in life.

Maybe I'm Dreaming

Maybe I'm Dreaming

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 30, 2005

I was attacked by a dog that look like a cat

It meowed and it barked, can you imagine that

Then it chirped and it tweeted and it flew in a tree

It's the craziest thing that ever happened to me

I saw a squirrel of rainbow, not black or not gray

It was so beautiful, as it scurried away

A bushy tail with colors of the rainbow

It touched my heart, and warmed my soul

I saw a bird, that hopped like a bunny

I know to me, it sure looked pretty funny

It chirped and it tweeted, as it hopped around

As quick as a rabbit, so fast on the ground

Oh my, what is happening to me

To distort my vision, and all that I see

Am I really seeing, all that is there

Why are my eyes, open and aware

Maybe I'm dreaming, and really awake

As I look out, at a purple colored lake

I must be crazy, and going insane

Or something I ate, messed up my brain

Oh well, I'll enjoy the colors, no matter what I see

And accept them all, for coming to me

Must have been one heck of a dream.

Universal Blessings

Universal Blessings

© by Bud Lemire on Nov 12, 2006

As you journey through your life, there are many lessons

They'll take a lot out of you, but they'll be Universal Blessings

Sometimes thoughts will come, as you gaze at the moon

Will the love of your life, be finding you soon

So many questions, and still we wonder why

Why the ones we love, always have to die

There will always be the unknown, wherever we go

Things that are unseen, but they will help us grow

At the time we think, oh what a curse

And think that things, couldn't get any worse

In the end, we'll understand the lessons

And recognize them as Universal Blessings

Beware of what you ask for

Because you'll receive even more

The Universe knows your very needs

So watch what you plant, careful what seeds

Go on your journey, remember you're not alone

Watch for every sign, be aware of what is shown

Remember you're here to learn the lessons

In the end, you'll receive Universal Blessings

Those Universal Blessings come to us all.

We must be alert and watch for them, and

embrace them and grow from them.

Heaven's Door

Heaven's Door

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 3, 2014

Sometimes we just never know

When it is our time to go

All that we can do

Is live our life until it's through

We have our struggles, we have some pain

But when we leave, our bodies remain

Our souls move on, to where souls dwell

In the Spirit World, we know so well

It's where we started, it's where we return

We bring all our lessons, we continue to learn

The pain in our bodies, are left behind

What once thought was lost, we now find

Into the light, our souls ascend

Our souls education, in the time we spend

What is time, when it's eternity

Forever and ever, we continue to be

Our time here, is a limited time

I do my best, with this body of mine

Until our bodies, can't take any more

Then we find ourselves, at Heaven's Door

No matter who you are, when we leave here,

we all go through Heaven's Door. Into the

place where all spirits go.

Dreamland Serenade

Dreamland Serenade

© by Bud Lemire on July 3, 2014

It's off to bed I go

To drift away to somewhere I know

With my Twin Flame, is where I'll be

Our deep love for each other, is the key

We'll dance upon a cloud so high

And spread our wings and fly

Our travels here in the Astral Stream

Will take us far within this dream

We can make it up, as we go along

And we can dance, to any song

The magic of our love aware

Can take our souls, anywhere!

No dream is too big for our love

Just whatever we can think of

In a blink of an eye, that's where we'll be

Just a thought, and feeling so free

As we travel this Astral Stream

We are One within this dream

Although a dream it is quite real

True feelings are what we both feel

Our love is what we made

In this Dreamland Serenade

In this Dreamland Serenade, it's

just Vicki and I and the love we

have for each other.

Ticks Me Off

Ticks Me Off

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 30, 2014

Don't like Wood Ticks, they get into my blood

Politics turn me off, like a stick in the mud

I like Tic Tacs, they taste good to me

Tick Tock, Tick Tock, time is the key

Don't like those Wood Ticks, crawling all over me

Those nasty blood suckers, just let me be

Politics lose my interest, turns my stomach sour

To me it's a battle, of who has more power

Republican or Democrat, how will you vote

To me it's like being, in a leaky boat

Just let me out, I don't want to drown

Or cut off my ear, to a Political clown

Why does someone always have to be right

Opinions and comments, aren't really that bright

When they are pushed, and very rude

It starts up smoke, in a Political Feud

I hear the bickering, all of the time

It ticks me off, when they cross the line

If you choose someone, go ahead and vote

It's something I prefer, to be on a silent note

Even though the Election is over. I still hear

the bickering going on. It's time to move on.

The winner is President, and like anyone who

wins, we can only hope they do a good job.

Don't cry that you lost, don't point fingers

and brag that you won. To me it is like

acting like kids that never grew up. The

world still goes on. You shouldn't be

ready to kick someone off your list

because they didn't vote the same way

as you. They plain dumb thinking there.

Just because they don't share your opinion,

doesn't make them any less of a friend.

Lighten Up With Laughter

Lighten Up With Laughter

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 30, 2014

Lighten up your life with laughter

It's needed in this life and after

Lighten their stress, and their mood

Joking around without being rude

Laughter truly is the best thing

A touch of humor is something good to bring

A funny event to share

Will clear the air

It's the best thing for your soul

Gigglers are the ones who know

Giggle and laugh, and smile too

Depression won't want to be with you

Don't take life too serious each day

Lighten the situation, with laughter on display

Laugh at how funny people can be

Then you can laugh along with me

What could make you laugh out loud, you say

Something so funny, it happened in a humorous way

Lighten up your life with laughter

It's needed in this world and after

Laughter really is the best medicine.

I'm all for it. Because I am not one

to be serious all the time.

Following The Trail

Following The Trail

© by Bud Lemire on June 20, 2013

Following the trail of our ancestor

Looking for information that will lead to more

Walking down every path that we find

Knowing in spirit, that they won't mind

In fact, we know they are near

All things in time, become clear

We know the route they had taken

A journey to the past, when we awaken

We know the places, where we should go

And it touches a place, deep in our soul

Getting in touch with Cousins everywhere

The information, that we're willing to share

Sharing information, comparing each note

Making sure no errors, in each one we wrote

Putting the picture to the name

Resemblances can often be the same

I love to find people, who are on their own trail

Off on the sea, of their genealogical sail

Looking for information, that will lead to more

Following the trail, of ancestors who came before

I've been climbing my Family Tree since 1990.

In that time, I have found many relatives, and it

has been great enjoyment in all that I have found.

Good In Every Day

Good In Every Day

© by Bud Lemire on April 23, 2013

I look for something good in every day

And cherish what I find in every way

For there is good, before the day is done

Sometimes in each moment, sometimes in the sun

Sometimes we must make it good

Because nobody else would or could

It's all inside, search your mind

Be positive with all you find

The state you're in, is the key

Of what kind of day, it will be

Sometimes it can be almost anything

Maybe a song, and the way they sing

It could be a compliment said to you

Or something you've waited for, that came through

Whatever it is, you will know

And it makes for a happy soul

Change your mind, think positive

Find the good in each day you live

I cherish what I find in every way

Because I look for good in every day

If you look, you can find good in every

day. The sun, the birds, a friend, a song,

a book, events, a letter, a comment, TV,

and so much more.

Growing Old

Growing Old

© by Bud Lemire on June 25, 2012

Growing old isn't the easiest thing

We worry about health and what it will bring

As our bodies age, our health starts to fail

The pain we endure, is like a hammer on nail

It's harder to endure what we once did

Let's face it, we're no longer a kid

Muscles are aching, arthritis sets in

It's a fighting battle, that we'll never win

We must cherish each moment, without the pain

Smile when the sun shines, get through the rain

Walk a little slower, look all around

Be careful we don't find ourselves, on the ground

We must see the Doctor more often, for check ups each year

Wait for the results, to see what will appear

It's always better, when the results are okay

It's like an apple a day, keeps the Doctor away

Sometimes our health, has to do with our heart

It just doesn't beat right, and we're falling apart

Our heart is important, it helps us to live

With the heart of our soul, we learn to give

So much can hurt us as we're growing old

But love will keep us, from getting so cold

Everyone we know, at sometime will grow older too

It something us humans, always have to go through

Every day we get older. It's just something that happens.

But it is just a number, for inside, our soul, remains so very

young. For it's our body that withers in time.

Keep This In Mind

Keep This In Mind

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 30, 2007

When your nerves are playing all about

It is at this time, when you let in doubt

Your worries and fears are out of control

You own the strength, within your soul

Never believe in the nightmare

It's just the negative in the air

When fear is around, you're vulnerable to all

Darkness and cold energy, will be your wall

Have faith and hope, that love will conquer everything

Soon you'll have closure, for that is what it will bring

Peace will be waiting, to comfort you in the end

When the trying time is over, you won't have to bend

Keep on praying, keep the negative vibes away

Hold your head up high, tomorrow's another day

One step at a time, you'll get through that door

You've been through many others, in your life before

Know that God and I, are with you everywhere you go

We guide you and comfort you, this you already know

We send you love, of the strongest kind

When you're feeling down, keep this in mind

Just wanted a friend to know I am here, and not

to give up on hope and to believe that all things

will work out. Think positive.

I Lost My Marbles

I Lost My Marbles

© 2002 by Bud Lemire

The day I lost my marbles, I remember it well

I will share the memories, in these words that I will tell

I had my half sizer out, ready to take a shot

To make it in the hole, but I missed a lot

I knelt down, to try to shoot again

I shot, and I saw the smile upon my friend

My half sizer went in , the hole that was so deep

All that was in that hole, was all mine to keep

I felt so dirty, yet I felt so happy too

Until my friend took out a full sizer, that was colored blue

I knew this would be a challenge, if I only I could beat

I would try my very best, not to give in to defeat

My friend's luck was changing, and I was losing

The movement of the fingers, can be pretty amusing

You have to know the right angles, to make it work out right

With the right amount of power, with the hole in sight

For some reason, I had trouble with my aim

I knew it wouldn't be long, until I lost the game

We took turns flicking our fingers, and mine almost went in

I was lucky yesterday, but today I wasn't going to win

I need all my best peeries, and then I knew

I'd have to use my boulders, and my steelies too

I took one final shot, and aimed it at the hole

Watching it carefully, to see where it would roll

I had fun playing, as I looked at my empty can

That day I lost my marbles, I took it like a man

As I sat there on the ground, in the old schoolyard

I realized life would be easy, and life would be hard

All we can do, is to try our best in everything we do

Sometimes we will miss, and sometimes our aim is true

My friend Mike Derusha comes to mind when I think of

playing Marbles at the Washington Schoolyard. Although

I played marbles with many, my memory remembers him

the most when we had played. It was fun time to play, and

I remember those times with a smile on my face.

Everyone You Meet

Everyone We Meet

© by Bud Lemire on Oct 3, 2012

Everyone we meet in life, has a role to play

Sometimes we're their teacher, sometimes it is they

There is always a lesson we can learn

From the people we meet at every turn

The journey of the soul, takes in everything

Gently as it moves ahead, never hovering

Touching others gently, with your light

So their wings open, and they can take flight

Traveling life's path, helping those in need

Wherever we end up, wherever it may lead

Those souls that are lead before our eyes

Stand before us truly, naked of disguise

Sometimes our advice, is what they need to hear

To calm them of their obstacles, and rid them of their fear

It may be something, we never experienced before

Somehow we knew the right words, to help them through the door

There's always some reason, why people come and go

Even if there's no answers, and we never truly know

Their touch and influence, touches us so deep

When our lives cross with, Everyone We Meet

Our life touches others who come into our lives.

At the same time, they touch our lives as well.

They learn from us, we learn from them. In the

end we both grow as we travel along in life.

Making The Difference

Making The Difference

© by Bud Lemire on April 10, 2006

How many times have you awakened on your bed

Wondering what difference you made, if you were dead

What would they say

If they found you this way

Would you make a difference, to people you know

Would the presence you made, help others to grow

The kindness you gave, would it be passed around

While your body would lay buried, in the underground

Would the time you shared, be in their memory

To give them strength, upon their life's journey

Or would it be forgotten, as time moved along

Like an out of print record, no more on that song

I'd like to think each life, is valued by those

Whose spirits intermingle, while the soul grows

Whether happiness found, or lost in pain

So much from life, is what we gain

Sharing a life, brief as it may be

Teaches us more, than any eye can see

We learn about life, and the roles we play

When we should go, or when we should stay

The difference you make, could change someone you know

Making someone feel better, by words you let flow

The next time you wonder

Let there be thunder

Let the rain pour

Yet never ignore

What your life is for

Touch the many, and touching more

Your life touches us so much more than

you'll ever realize. You do make a difference

every day of your life, as it touches others in

an amazing way. Remember this always.
