Cheryl, A Special Sister

Cheryl, A Special Sister

©2003 by Bud Lemire

This is a special poem for my sister Cheryl

Who flew from the nest, just like a sparrow

She spread her wings along ago, to make it on her own

And through the many years, my sister sure has grown

Her life took many twists, and several different turns

The spirit inside her, lessons she had learned

Life doesn't come easy, it's hard work that helps you through

Sometimes it's a rough road, no matter what you do

She's the baby girl of my Mom's first family

And she's just three years older than me

She raised her own family, far from her birthplace

A daughter and a son, with her smiling face

Oh I recall the days when we were young

And all the good memories of the songs that were sung

The times when we went to Aunt Olive's Camp

The nights when you were rocking by the living room lamp

Time has taken us each down a different road

Lessons that we learn as we carry our load

May this day be a special one for you with lots of love

With the Easter sunshine shining on you from above

For you Cheryl, May you always know how special you are to me.
