Census
Taker
by Bud Lemire on March 8,

I am a Census
Taker, I've written down your name
And in a
special area, the place from which you came
If you
immigrated, I've written down the year
And written
down your age, and if you were born here
I've written
down your street, and your house number
And your
occupation, in a Mill of paper or lumber
I've written
down your family, and who lived there too
Relatively
speaking, I gave you a life review
I've taken
down where you live, county and the state
And the
township also, and who was your mate
I've written
down your role, in the family life
The head of
the household, a brother, sister, or a wife
Someone in
the future, might wonder where you live
This will
help them find you, with information that you give
It's up to
me, to get everything down the best
And if you're
from the east, and moved out to the west
I am a Census
Taker, I've written down your name
And in a
special area, the place from which you came
Your age and
where you live, and what it is you do
So someone in
the future, can easily find you
