Da Jaybird

Da Jaybird

Breaker! Breaker! Nightcrawler, you got a copy on me?

Or is there much static, on your side of the C.B.

If you have a copy, I'm sending you a big 10-4

To let you know I love you, if I never did before

These words come from the heart, for all the times we've shared

All through the years together, for you, I've always cared

You were unique in so many ways

I have some memories of those special days

I still recall those days so long ago

When you tried fixing my Talking G.I.Joe

It wasn't really that bad, because at least you tried

You knew how much it meant to me, I think that we both cried

Your laughter was always louder than the rest

When I was taping, your voice came out the best

The times that we played “Animal,” and the times that we played “Spoons”

And those special moments when we shared the special tunes

From Gilbert O' Sullivan, Cat Stevens, Jethro Tull, and the Beatles too

And we exchanged tapes, Mom and I sang “Yellow Submarine” to you

The Christmas tapes that you'd always send

Terra could hardly talk, because she was a child then

When told that you had Hodgkins disease, I can still recall that day

Tears sure fell from Mother's eyes, and brother, we sure did pray

We all knew that you were scared, and not really that strong

But you put up a front, so we'd think that we were wrong

No you have your own family, and Marge, a wonderful wife

And so many people who love you, who are part of your life

Daniel and Eric, your children are growing up fast

Only in our memories, can we relive the past

But when I'm taken back, these memories I will treasure

Because the love I have from you, is much too big to measure

I took all the special memories, and gathered every word

To put into this poem for you, my brother, Da Jaybird

Thank you Jay, for being a wonderful brother!
