Dead
Cat
by Bud Lemire in 2001
On my way
down the street, I saw a dead cat
It made me
think of this, and think of that
We just never
know
Where our
life will go
So always be
careful, when crossing the street
Watch it, so
you don't, trip over your own feet
Look both
ways, for cars that are in sight
And if it's
dark outside, wear something white
As I looked
over, at the dead cat
I wondered
what it was thinking, before it went splat
It wouldn't
be thinking, "Oh no! It's the end for me"
Because
animals and humans, think differently
But how do I
really know, for I'm not a cat
It could have
been thinking, of this or of that
How will the
owners feel, maybe they'll weep
For their
special pet, finding it hard to sleep
I know how
I'd feel, if I were in their shoes
I'd be
feeling the sorrow, for the friend I did lose
For although
we are different, we're similar too
And I know
animals have souls, with all I've been through
I'm sure
confusion, ran through its mind
When it
entered Heaven, and left its body behind
It's probably
getting together, with its feline family
And all other
relatives, who are in its family tree
I know one
thing for sure, as I saw the dead cat
It made me
think more, of this and of that
We should
appreciate all creatures, those who are like us or not
And be
thankful we're alive, and for all that we've got
