Margaret,
My Neighbor
by Bud Lemire on Dec 10,
2004
From a past
of many hardships, she carried a heavy load
Spending much
of her time, feeding animals on the 22nd road
Nature's
creatures helped her, to carry on her life
But times
weren't very pleasant, in her role as a wife
She raised
her two sons, and worked hard on the farm
Never giving
up, she kept her boys from harm
Grew up in
Chicago, and then she moved away
She loved her
life in Michigan, she smiled everyday
Hungarian
roots, her family history there
It is in her
blood, cats crave for her care
She's
connected to the creatures, who walk on all fours
They touch
her heart, and they do so much more
I met this
wonderful lady, in the year 2004
At the Harbor
Tower, we were neighbors on the fifteenth floor
She read all
the poems, I'd hang upon my door
She loved
working those number searches, she'd buy at the store
One day while
smoking in the alley, she bent to put it out
She fell and
broke her hip, it was a clean break no doubt
Now Margaret
and her cat Tonya, are healing in their bed
While Alice
down the hall, brings food that should be fed
I'm her
neighbor, she calls me her third son
I've come to
think of Margaret, as a special one
To my
neighbor Margaret Feher.
Who is now
in Heaven.
