Marie, A
Special Cousin
©1991 by Bud Lemire
This is a
special poem I wrote up just for you
Because of
the thoughtful things, you say and do
You are a
wonderful cousin, one I'm proud to know
I'm glad to
have known you, since I began to grow
When
combining a smile with Marquette, your face comes to mind
You always
find good in everyone, your ways are oh so kind
Troubles come
and troubles go, my prayers are always with you
Because you
are special, deserving all good things too
The letter I
receive from you, means a lot to me
I'm so happy
to have you in my family tree
When I was a
baby crawling, you took a trip here
You picked me
up smiling, and said I looked like a Lemire
In your own
special way, your words were kind and simple
While holding
me, your eyes were on my dimple
I remember
your Mom and Don, coming here for a ride
Being young
and shy, We would always run and hide
My Mom and
yours, wrote letters to each other
Exchanging
news in their life, of a housewife and a Mother
As time
passes by, it seems so long ago
But I have
pictures, to tell me it was so
You are here,
and this is today
These are the
words I wanted to say
With each day
that begins and ends
You'll be my
cousin, we'll always be friends
Marie, you've been a
great cousin! Thanks!
This is for my Cousin Marie Lawry-Goodreau-Stickney,
who now resides in Heaven.
