When
You've Gone Away
by Bud Lemire

What makes a
person get up and go
From the
people and places that took a lifetime to know
What could
have caused such a thing to be
I guess for
those outside the circle, it’ll remain a mystery
Yet still I
wonder and I silently ask why
Two decades
without contact, did he even try?
Now both his
parents are passed
The stones
have already been cast
Was it a
family feud?
Was someone
unfair and rude?
Life is too
short to just walk away
Were you at a
loss of words to say
I know your
Father and Mother are watching over you
And they know
everything you say and do
I’m sure
they understand why you had to leave
And they’ve
been informed of the life you weave
Despite any
conflicts upon this earthly plane
They’ll
help to guide, by your side they’ll remain
For the bond
you had, will always stay
Even in
distance, When You’ve Gone Away
