Realization

By Bud Lemire on April 23, 2010

She sits down beside a grave hoping they can hear
Oblivious to their presence as they draw near
The spirits wonder the same thing that they did before
“Why can’t she see the signs too obvious to ignore?”

She folds her hands and starts to pray
While the spirits listen to all she has to say
They hear every word although she doesn’t speak
She visit’s the grave site almost every week

The same monarch butterfly flies around her head
Why are they gone, why are they dead
The same squirrel, stops by to stare
But for some reason, she just doesn’t care

She came to pay respects to those who passed away
Not even realizing they’re with her every day
But still they try to get her attention
Hoping one day she’ll feel their spiritual sensation

Many years pass by, yet still she stops
To her knees, her body drops
Tears fall down her wrinkled face
A rose pops up in a nearby place

The wind blows, and she smells the rose
As the fragrance catches her nose
A calm feeling embraces her soul
She smiles again, she’s finally whole

So often we are so caught up in our human roles, we forget to take time to nurture our spiritual side. Breathe in…breathe out. Feel all that surrounds you. Feel all that you are. Feel all you can be. Feel all that is.
