Upon
Her Plate
by Bud Lemire on June 25,
2006
She puts her
food upon her plate
But only one
at time she ate
She says that
the food can not touch
Or she won’t
eat, for it’s too much
She doesn’t
understand the way she eats
Separating
veggies from potatoes and meats
It’s just
the way she’s been known to be
I eat much
differently than she
I eat some of
each in every bite
My taste buds
dance in joyful delight
And down to
my stomach, is where it goes
Why we eat
differently, only God knows
You may eat
differently than her or I
And others
may wonder how come and why
Mixing corn
with mashed potatoes
Or toasting
bread to eat with tomatoes
Dipping
popcorn in mayonnaise
Eating foods
in different ways
All I know is
what’s right for you
Is the way
you do the things you do
