My Sister,
Cheryl
© 1991 by Bud Lemire
Sibling
rivalry comes to mind, but that was long ago
We were only
children then, and needed time to grow
As time went
on, we went our separate way
But I still
remember those times, almost every day
Do you
remember Friskie, the white dog from next door?
Or the visits
to Aunt Olive's camp, upon the Dead River shore?
Then you got
Barney, I remember him real well
He growled
a lot, kept to himself, I cried the day he fell
Waiting for a
phone call, this one is my friend
Your
fingernails grew long, I hope that I will mend
You liked to
sleep in, I heard that you still do
Trying to
wake you, but could get no reaction from you
Moving to Two
Rivers, your first move away
Then you
moved in the direction of Clyde and of Jay
Terra was
born, she was the first child that you had
Then you
married Steve Fleming who became her Dad
Looking back,
on those early days gone by
Makes you
realize, how quickly time does fly
Although our
lives are different, this much will be true
You'll always
be my sister, no matter what you do
Cheryl never liked this
poem I wrote about her,
yet it was the truth,
and it is in my memories
