On
The Greyhound
© 2002 by Bud Lemire
Here I sit
traveling, on the Greyhound
Traveling to
the place, where my love is found
Crossing many
states, riding every mile
Just so I can
see, her sweet wonderful smile
Across many
lands, I never thought I'd see
Why, I even
saw the river, the great Mississippi
Two days on
the road, exhausting was the trip
But I took
another bite, and took another sip
I knew this
trip, would be the last one alone
Because upon
this journey, I was on my way home
She would be
there waiting, with a hug and a kiss to give
This is the
way, I always thought my life should live
Filled with
so much love, it seems to overflow
Knowing our
love is together, wherever we will go
Life is but a
journey, where we travel place to place
And we take
it as it comes, at our own pace
While I sit
here writing this, as we stop to grab a bite
I will be
forever guided, by my true love's light
For she had
some along, and brought so much to me
Because of
that, we'll share, the same destiny
It turned out to be
quite a trip altogether to enjoy there.
But within two years, I
returned to the Upper Peninsula
of Michigan to start a
new adventure. New loves, and
finally to the greatest
love of all. What a journey!
