Present
©1992 by Bud Lemire
Christmas
came and went again, and I had nothing for you
Only to say
thanks, for the things that you do
The best gift
is knowing, that friends are around
To share in
the research, and all that was found
There's too
many to name, but none I dislike
The presence
of each, is worth a trip on my bike
Traits that
make each of you, special and unique
Making me
look forward, to each and every week
Doesn't
matter where your ancestors came from
They'd be
proud of all that you've become
As I am
honored, to have each as a friend
Kind welcomes
I receive, as you carry on a trend
We share the
need to know better, our family tree
Even though
there are many, who wouldn't agree
I believe we
were chosen, to have the knowledge we find
Guided by
ancestral spirits, who are present in our mind
Maybe they
sent messages, in your dream one night
Helping to
find the path, which lead us to the light
The future
may look dim, but you'll find out where they went
I know mine
will be brighter, with good friends like you Present
Sometimes the greatest
gift is having a friend's presence during
the times when you need
them. Appreciating that friend is
something we should
always do.
