The
Family Tree
©2002 by Bud Lemire
Oh what a
thrill it is, to climb the family tree
To see on
each branch, who's related to me
I have so
many cousins, they're coming out of the walls
Many try
reaching me, with all of their phone calls
Why, I must
have a cousin, in almost every state
And this
genealogy, sure keeps me up so late
Trying to
figure out, just who is who
And where
they went, without even a clue
They show up,
in the most unusual places
And some sure
can, resemble us in their faces
Or other
characteristics, with everything we do
There's
always some ancestor's, personality that comes through
Maybe it's
what we like to do, or how we go about it
That always
keeps the fire burning, always to be lit
It keeps the
flames alive, our life and love of kin
That makes
the research fun, whenever we begin
To see a
letter arrive, from a cousin from far away
And find out
what they have to share, and what they have to say
Sometimes I
find myself on a branch so far out on the tree
I wonder how
I got there, all I did was start with me
It's been a wonderful
journey climbing the Family Tree.
I've met some really
wonderful family members.
