The
Train To Mineral Lake
© 2002 by Bud Lemire
Standing in
the line, waiting for the train to arrive
Where was the
family, who had a long ways to drive
As passengers
were boarding, family members appeared
The tickets
had been purchased, everything had been cleared
Choo! Choo!
Came the steam from the locomotive train
That started
out a beautiful day, with no sign of any rain
A journey on
the tracks, that stops ate Mineral Lake
And all the
foods we brought along, all that we could take
What a scenic
view, we had along the way
Mount Rainier
in the distance, on this sunny day
Arrival at
Mineral Lake, and the picnic tables were set
The sun was
shining brightly, and we began to sweat
The children
wanted to swim, so we looked far and wide
And found a
spot across the lake, on the other side
A little walk
on the train tracks, and through this tiny town
Lead us to
this swimming spot, where we settled down
On the way
back, we stopped at a store
Something
nice and cold, to cool our inner core
The train
arrived, rolling down the track
We all
boarded, we were on our way back
Looking back
to that day, it was memories we did make
On the day we
took, The Train To Mineral Lake
I recall City Hall
looking like an Outhouse. So very small.
It was a beautiful day
for a nice getaway. The wonderful
train ride. The
beautiful dog that wanted to join the kids
swimming in the water.
