Wanda,
A Friend4bud
©2002 by Bud Lemire
It
happened long ago, at a cribbage site
Along
came a player, it was after midnight
She
was looking to play, so we started a game
We
started to chat, Nicegal was her name
She
was at work, but loved the time that we shared
We
had a friendship, that showed we both cared
The
bond that we had, grew to be very deep
But
she was engaged, so it was one not to keep
With
sadness in our hearts, we said our final goodbye
It
was three times we did, but she always returned with a “Hi”
But
after the third time, there followed a large gap
How
was I to know, she was going through so much crap
She
called me one day from Washington, from Moses Lake
Said
she had left him, because it was all she could take
She
kept in touch by E-Mail, to let me know
Just
what was happening, and where she would go
Gig
Harbor was where, her next place would be
She
E-Mailed and called, and reconnected with me
Soon
we were catching up, on what we've been through
And
sharing our plans, about what we'd like to do
She
remained a friend4bud, all through the years
We
counted our blessings, and cried happy tears
To
be in touch with a friend, who is true from the heart
And
to know for each other, we shared a special part
She came to Escanaba to
visit, and not long after, I
moved to Gig Harbor
Washington, and I married her.
I was her husband and
Step Dad to her daughter Aunja.
Later we moved to
Montesano. The marriage didn't
quite last two years,
but it was a great experience for me.
