The Common Thread

The Common Thread

© 2002 by Bud Lemire

The common thread of life, that flows between us each

With people on this journey, that we all must reach

Their lives interact, with the one we live

With our heart and soul, we learn how to give

You see it in the faces, of the people everywhere

We become more complete, when we learn to share

For becoming whole, we must understand others too

This makes for, becoming a better you

You learn, you grow, you see, you know

You try your best, and there you go

The effort you make, is well worth it in the end

A reward to the spirit, of the time that you lend

The common thread, that weaves through our life

May cut some people, like a butcher's knife

We must learn to use it, as a gift of light

To right the wrongs, that cause endless night

Before we move ahead, we must see it all

And listen closely. Until we hear the call

For life is like a common thread

From the break of dawn, until it's time for bed

We each have a common thread between us
